Advice...
So as football season ended and with basketball right around the corner I decided that it was probably time for a break. I immediately stopped all physical activity for the 2 week dead period. Good right? Yea not so much after I finally realized the effects today. Sure you're thinking, "It's only 2 weeks what could go wrong." Those were my original thoughts also. However let me tell you that this is something you should NEVER...EVER do. Now i know that the mounds of extreme moosetracks ice cream and grande meals at Taco Bell followed up by 2 Big Macs and a large fry probably didn't help, but it was ONLY 2 WEEKS. Then came the tryouts. If you haven't realized by now I am quite a large young man. Managing my 6'2, 225 pound stature is not quite the easiest thing, and as you can imagine I'm not the quickest player moving up and down the court. A nice jog around the school got me warmed up and I thought i was ready to go, then came the first drill. The drill involved running up and down the court a total of 4 times and retrieving the ball that was shot by those quick little guards. At first it wasn't so bad, however upon reaching half court it hit me. I could feel all of those Big Macs, tacos, and ice cream from the past 2 weeks coming back to haunt me (not to mention the 2 Burrito Supremes and 3 soft shell tacos I managed to consume literally 5 minutes before practice started). Needless to say it was a long tryout, followed by 2 more, and then practice today. All my conditioning during football seemed to have disappeared and I am stuck with the task of gaining it all back. My advice to you...don't stop physical activity, or you may just end up looking like me.
